Beer Fridges & Coolers

Beer fridges
are the ideal way to keep your beer especially cold. Contrary to popular tradition, it is a bad idea to use an old fridge as your beer fridge. Contemporary refrigerators are instead more well suited since they are bound to be much more energy efficient and may even be SMART approved. This increased efficiency will help you keep your beer cold for much less money in the long run.

Beer fridge recommendations:
Beer fridges are ideally kept full. We’re not joking: a fuller fridge will also help you save energy. The more items that you keep in any fridge (or freezer for that matter) will help keep down costs of cooling. If you do not keep your mini-fridge full of beer, load it up with other stuff that needs refrigerating or even other bottles of alcohol that you keep around.

Alternately, you can try filling the beer fridge with items such as empty milk bottles or boxes filled with Styrofoam or other similar material - as long as you replace this every once in a while and you do not use material that will encourage the growth of bacteria or mold.

Some advice about beer fridges:
Novelty beer fridges such as golf ball shaped beer fridges and the like make a great gift.

Beer coolers are also, er, cool, of course. In Beer Classifieds listings, we have seen numerous antique beer coolers, vintage ice buckets and many other beer collectible goodies.

Of course, name brand beer fridges (such as a beer fridge completely embossed with a Cornona log or a Coors’ Light logo).

We have also seen some very nifty looking beer fridges completely decked out in beer brand regalia. Drum coolers and soda coolers are also worth finding out about. Finally, we love this camouflaged beer fridge.

Maintaining your beer fridge
While there is not much to maintaining a beer fridge, you do need to be mindful of mold and other harm that can arise. Since you will be keeping only beer bottle and cans in your fridge, you probably will not need to clean out the inside of your beer fridge more than once per year, although if you clean it out more often that is obviously better. If you keep food of any kind in your beer fridge, you should clean it out more often – at least once a month, perhaps.
